How do I install a translator keyboard on Android?

Install Babelo from Google Play and open the app: it guides you screen by screen. You create your account, turn on the Babelo switch in the keyboard settings, then pick Babelo in Android's small window. After that, in WhatsApp or anywhere else, you type in your language and tap 文A to translate.

Install Babelo on Android, step by step

  1. Install Babelo from Google Play, then open the app.
  2. Create your account: it is the first screen.
  3. Tap “Open settings” and turn on the Babelo switch. Android shows a warning for every keyboard: confirm it.
  4. Pick Babelo in the small window where Android asks which keyboard to use.
  5. To translate the messages you receive, allow the Accessibility service once: “Use Babelo”, then “Allow”. You can also do it later.
  6. Type in any app, then tap 文A: your text is replaced by its translation.

Reading the messages you receive

On Android, Babelo puts a 👁 on the messages you receive. Tap it: Babelo reads the text shown and gives you its translation. This uses Android's Accessibility service, turned on once; you can turn it off at any time in Android Settings ▸ Accessibility.

Frequently asked questions

The 👁 no longer shows up on messages?
Check that Babelo's Accessibility service is still on. On some brands, battery saving closes Babelo in the background: choose “No restrictions” for Babelo, as the app suggests.
Android says Babelo is blocked?
It's an Android safety check for the Accessibility service. Unlock Babelo once: tap ⋮ at the top right, then “Allow restricted settings”.
How do I go back to my old keyboard?
At any time: Android lets you switch keyboards while you type (keyboard icon at the bottom of the screen on most phones), or in the keyboard settings.
Which languages?
